To know a plant, grow a plant!
Parent plants that were selected for height (tall) were inter-mated using bee sticks, and these 13 plants developed seed pods. Then, these plants with their developing pods were taken off water and left under the lights for the seeds to mature (water was removed 20 days after the last day of pollination).
Next, classes ended at UW, and everyone scattered briefly to recover from finals and enjoy spring! Soon, we'll be harvesting our seed and planting the next generation. We'll be measuring carefully to see if this next generation is taller, on average, than the parents' generation.
Stay tuned . . .!
